The Nokia N900 has already available a loader of Ovi Maps. Solved some problems that had with the desktop application Ovi Suite to download the maps.

With Ovi Maps Loader we can download directly on the Nokia N900 maps to use the GPS, and not have to use the data connection of our N900. But for now still does not include the Voice Guidance and a couple features. But we hope that within short time these options are available.

still not working…
1. Run terminal and type:
cp /home/user/MyDocs/.qf /home/user/MyDocs/qf
2. Connect to PC in PC Suite Mode
3. Open Map Loader and it works!
Tried that and it still says waiting for phone..
It doesn’t seem to work on Vista or 7 and that seems to be the general consensus around the web. I got it working on Windows 7 XP Mode virtual machine though so it works on XP for sure.
Setting the exe to Windows XP compatibility mode didn’t work for me but some people have reported it working so that might be worth a try.
hi people i tried this on windows 7 and doesn’t work its annoying but then i tried it on my netbook with windows xp works like a charm………….
It seems that i got this on my windows 7 x64… so maybe the problem got fixed?
Works in my win7 64bit.
This is stupid.. it either works in XP, or at the other end of the scale, Windows 7 64bit. Come on Nokia… sort out your loyal customers instead of just dumping a phone with no support. Perhaps they are waiting for Meego to take over before fully supporting it.
Just reinstalled maploader and tried both in mass storage and pc suite mode and still waiting for it to detect my phone. im using win7 x64….
It does not work for me either. I ran the steps below and received an error that the file is not found. Looking in my documents folder through File Manager there is in fact no qf file. I tried connecting using both PC Suite and Mass Atorage modes.
1. Run terminal and type:
cp /home/user/MyDocs/.qf /home/user/MyDocs/qf
2. Connect to PC in PC Suite Mode
3. Open Map Loader and it works!
zim that worked for me! woohoo thanks very much!!
i am still have this issue
the file qf is not here and tryied all solution here ,
any other advice .
i have win xp
Regard
For those people having Vista/Win7 problems… you need to run Map Loader in XP compatability mode (apparently).. possibly with elevated permissions.
I have the same issue and I am using XP.
Tried the cp command given above and it did not help.
Please help.
I have used a different USB port and it helped!
