In order to see all content, whether directories or files, hidden of our Nokia N900 from your PC, we will install the OpenSSH server. It is imperative to have a wifi connection to get it.

The steps are:
- Install the OpenSSH server on our N900. OpenSSH is a client-server, which implements the SSH protocol, which is a protocol encryption to control remote devices via console. You can download and install from the Extras repository, to know more about repositories click here.
- Download and install the program on the PC WinSPC, click here to download. With WinSPC you can access the directories on our N900.
- Get the IP of our N900:
- Access as root, here we explain how to access as root.
- Type “ifconfig” and you get our IP (preceded by inet).

- Run WinSPC. Fill the fields as follows:
- Host name: enter the IP of our N900
- Port number: 22
- User name: root
- Password: Use the password OpenSSH.
- File Protocol: SFTP
- Mark box “Allow SCP fallback”

- Click Login, and will open a window where we can see the content of our Nokia N900 (right windows).

We can now see hidden content for our Nokia N900. This will also help us to install many applications that require it

on the n900 go to terminal and type,

make a password and use it in openssh
A few directories that are useful to know:
/media/mmc1 – where my microSD card is
/home/user/MyDocs/.sounds – where sounds you have on the n900 are
/home/user/MyDocs/.videos – where videos you have are (unless they are on your sd card)
/home/user/MyDocs/.documents – your docs are here
/home/user/MyDocs/.images – all of the wallpapers, are here along with other images.
The password doesnt seem to work, i tried “OpenSHH” serveral times, but access denied, could ANY1 please tell me what i might have done wrong PLEAASE…. thank you

thanks
Any body have inicial info about conection between computer and n900. I mean how kind of conection need to conect phone with pc. I repit this quetion.
When I install OpenSSH client/server the phone starts to lag a lot (even in the menu) or it freezes and I have to reboot it… Tried it twice and behaved the same way. BTW: to maintain a good connection between the phone and the PC I had to leave the terminal pinging the PC. Otherwise it won’t connect or the ssh terminal will lag a lot.

when you type a password name in xterminal nothing will show up, just press enter and type you password again, the press enter. thats that done
to gain root access you can just type root
then type passwd
as your passwords is typed nothing show, just pretend it does. press enter
type your password again, press enter. i hope that helps
is the reverse of this also possible i.e. ssh into my desktop from my n900? if so can anyone let me know how.
