The next firmware update for our Nokia N900, the PR1.3, brings a surprise, coming soon with dual boot, to choose or Maemo MeeGo, as announced some time here. Very good news, which revives our N900.

Here’s a quote from the official Meego blog:
On the Maemo side, there have been interesting, supporting developments going on, as well. The PR 1.3 update is quite close now, and with that you can easily dual boot between Maemo and Meego on your N900. There is also a possibility of developing applications supporting both operating systems, based on Qt and Qt Mobility APIs on the Maemo side. It means that you can develop once in PC with Qt Creator, and test your applications on both Maemo and MeeGo, directly on your N900 device!
We will be very attentive!!!.

Nice! I hope pr 1.3 fix some bugs of 1.2.
when nokia’s phone will come with intel CPU? lol ^^
Isn´t that a great thing to hear! Hooray for Nokia! I thought my N900 was after all, maybe a failure.. With NitDroid waiting, and now this I know my N900 was worth the buy after all!
Ohhhh………
Thats a very very good news for us.
Thanks nokia team for supporting us
Yes! We have NOT been forgotten!
Meego sounds sweet. I wonder if PR1.3 will actually include Meego, or if it will just allow access to it (i.e. via PR1.3 Multiboot feature).
If Meego is included with the PR1.3 upgrade, I wonder where it’ll install to? I dont mind if it’s on the internal storage (unless it takes up 1/2 the space).
Also, how will this affect the multiboot that NitDroid uses?
It shouldn’t affect the NitDroid boot, in fact imagine the N900 with a choice of Meego, Maemo, NitDroid and Ubuntu… The N900 is indeed a wonderful device. Can’t wait for PR1.3
Whats new about this? I have had nitroid, meego and maemo on triple-boot months ago.. :/

From the official nokia blog:
UPDATE I asked Nokia for a statement regarding this topic and here’s their response:
The Nokia N900 is used as development hardware for platform developers working with MeeGo on ARM hardware architecture. While the software from the MeeGo project runs on the Nokia N900 for development purposes, Nokia does not intend to provide a dual-boot OS option to consumers in upcoming N900 commercial software releases as we want to ensure that we provide the best possible experience designed for that device. The meego.com blog post was primarily targeted to the audience reading the blog: MeeGo developers.
So there you have it. No dual boot option to consumers.
what the heck!!!!
when PR1.3 release?
next year? when?
which is why this is like my last nokia device ever!!!
dont get me wrong..the n900 is pretty kool, but the name/company nokia are pretty full of themselves…one miniute they say something and the next its something else….
screw you guys mann!!! im getting an iphone 4 soonish…atleast apple care about their company enough to make their users and consumers happy with surprisingly up to date tasks on their plans/agenda…
you morons could try a little harder ya know…guess everyone cant be a winner though huh…lol peace
They didn’t just ‘say’ something.. They said that a dual-boot with MeeGo was going to be possible and they supported it, but they never said it was going to be a high-end dual-boot for the Nokia N900…
hey the P.R1.3 is already released just check ur updates … how do you dual boot on an n900?
The company has forgotten us, how could they abandoned there first maemo
