This article stated that: “Maemo on Nokia N900 is not upgradeable to
MeeGo”. These words were based on that MeeGo may only work with processors Atom, and not with the ARM7 currently has the Nokia N900. But this is a mistake, because in the presentation of Meego, be assured that could work with both processors.

For Nokia the error of this holder of CNET is the way in which is written. From the Finnish company has been clarified that MeeGo yes can work with the Nokia N900, but that the update to MeeGo can not be from Maemo 5. The process to change of Maemo 5 to MeeGo, can be a little more complicated, but not impossible.

But until they officially launch the new platform for Nokia and Intel, surely we’ll find more rumors of this type by the network.

From a technical perspective I think that its impossible to upgrade maemo to meego. I think what cnet meant is that the update would not be OTA but one would require to flash the device and install meego.

this is a missunderstood.if you visit the meegos website you will find a photo of the n900 in the home page je…also if you read the post all are favorable to the n900 proccessor

  3. George says:

What was meant here is that you will have to make a fresh install of MeeGo over Maemo. Meaning that you will loose all user settings and applications. This is what will NOT be upgradeable. The hardware is fully compatible for running MeeGo.
