Nokia N8: Hard Reset

Sometimes your Nokia N8 not responding to anything, the phone is fully blocking, is when you have to do a hard reset. It’s very simple, but before, you make a back up your data icon wink Nokia N8: Hard Reset .

The steps are:

  1. Turn off your phone
  2. Hold “Volume Down + Camera Key + Menu Key” and press power button until until the phone vibrates
  3. Done ;-) .

Problems after doing full format:

  1. You lost Ovi Maps. However, you could reinstall it by download it here
  2. You also lost Ovi Store 2.0 and you can’t reinstall it since it always show “Unable to install”.

    I did a hard reset after a blocked phone, the ovi store 2.00.10024 installed just fine

    sometime u do not need hard reset when n8 not responding, just hold the on/off button for 15 seconds, the phone off, then press on again, it vibrate and everything works fine, happen to me 4 times since first launch in malaysia in oct 2010, need to wait for new firmware to adjust everything, new things new problem, but i really love my n8, superb hd video and pics, hdmi stunning

    by saying a “blocked phone” do you mean if it’s been blocked by the service provider? That sounds a little stupid to me if thats what you mean because if the phone was stolen and was then blocked by the service provider such as, T-Mobile, Orange or Vodafone then all the thife would need to do is follow your instructions above to unlock the phone again??

    Please confirm what you ment cyanide4c.

    I assume, that “blocked phone” is when your phone lags alot or doesn’t respond at all. The 15 sec. shutdown is what I recommend, then give it a minute to start up all the widgets and other apps. I would not use the “three-finger-reset” at all, and by the way, it doesn’t even work on my N8.
    If you need to reset your phone then follow this: Menu > Settings > Phone > Phone management > Factory settings > Restore (or choose restore and delete data, but remember to backup your phone).

    He meant “hang-up” or “stop responding”…..nasir is right, just push the power bottom for more than 8 seconds or until it vibrates. It will shut-down and what you need to do is re-start it again…no need to worry about any lost data, everything is still as is.

    you can also hard reset by dialing *#7370# but may have similar issues with ovi store, maps & social networks & maybe some widgets but can usually find a sis file to re-download these.

    amin – in the top right hand cnr will be a moon and a half filled battery pic, touch that and then select “deactivate power saving mode”

    im tyring the hard reset but it does not seem to be working it just turns on normaly,
    I turn it off, hold down the 3 buttons and the power button and it turns back on normally it does not seem to of reset any thing, any help would be good!

    the 3 finger reset is not working in my nokia N8, even i tried the *#7370# one. what could be the probable r what should i do?eason?
