CuteTube is a Youtube client for our Nokia N900, with some very interesting features for browsing Youtube, like the ability to download our favorite videos. Without doubt, the best Youtube application for Maemo.
Features:
- Browse, search, play and download YouTube videos. Media Player and MPlayer are currently supported for playback, with Media Player giving the best performance in my tests.
- Rate videos and view/add comments.
- Manage your YouTube account(s). You can add multiple accounts and switch between them dynamically.
- Create, edit and view your playlists, subscriptions and favourites.
- Create an ‘on the go’ playback queue, which can also be saved as a YouTube playlist.

It shuts down as soon as I open it.
I downloaded it but it closes the minute I try to open it, it doesn’t work.
There was a small bug in the code that I uploaded to extras-devel. Too many late nights. There’s a new build being uploaded. That should work fine.

Crash for me after the new update. Before was OK.
wonderfull application i never thought i would experience high quality youtube videos on my N900 but now i can thanks to this however it closes after 1-3 minutes is there any fix for that?

Work very good after the latest update, just can’t understand why plaing all video, but when downlowd them to my phone showing me mesage, that the file is not supported (playble).

The N900 media player does not support the 360p/480p/720p formats. You can try installing one of the other media players (such as KMPlayer) and see if that helps.
@marxian iv got this app on my phone it loads up fine but when i click search vid or recent vids it just stays searching y is this im on 3g do i have to use wifi?

@gangxta try deleting extras devel cat in app man then make new extras dev cat thats what i done then cutetube will appear in app man after you refresh hope this helps !)

i just install cute tube and when i press the download buttom they told that the video is added to the download queue. but i did not understand what that really mean ? and what is the queue ?and where i will find the downloaded video ? plz need ur help .
The latest update in conflict with python2.5-qt4-gui (4.7.5-maemo1). Impossible to be installed.
Hi – I get the same as 5EH40. Tried a couple of times. Maybe I should uninstall and reinstall? Comment?
To all those who are getting problems:
1) Open X-terminal in your phone.
2) Type ‘sudo apt-get install python2.5 python2.5-qt4-core python2.5-qt4-gui’
3) Install the packages and enter ‘y’ when asked for.
Now proceed with updating/installing cutetube. It would work now.

Followed typing in X-Terminal with what you had mentioned in the post, but it is asking for Password. I am not sure what is the default password. Can you please help?

To all those who had similar issues as I had in installing cutetube; “impossible to install cutetube; conflicting packages”, just install rootsh from repositories and then from the exterminal run “apt-get install cutetube”
cutetube is really one of the greatest app on N900. I would like to say thank you so much to our programmer. It’s been updated and it works well. I can download a lot of videos which are located in the folder .video
But since the last update today, the search function doesn’t work anymore. When I choose this and search for something, it can’t show the search results. So I don’t know if any of you have this problem? And what I should do to eliminate it?

I did what Fakhri told and with the apt-get install cutetube i get the following messages:
E: Could not open lock file /var/lib/dpkg/lock – open (13 Permission denied)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), are you root?
Would you please tell me how i would get past these?

I have the latest cutetube (0.9.11-2) installed on my N900, as well as all the python* dependencies mentioned by Manik on December 8. It’s able to play videos, but when I try to download something I get a pop-up saying that the video “has been added to your download queue”. When I go back to the application’s home screen and select Downloads, the download shows as “paused”. When I select “resume all downloads”, the status changes from “paused” to “queued”.
Hmm. As I was typing this, I tried it again, and the video actually started downloading, but the one I’m actually trying to download is still queued and showing 0% progress.
1. When I select “Download”, why is the download initially paused, so I have to go back to the download page to resume it? It should just start downloading immediately.
2. Why do some videos stay in the queued state indefinitely?
